The Summit Area YMCA Swim Team is affiliated with the Summit Area YMCA, located in the heart of downtown Summit, NJ. Our address is 67 Maple Street, Summit, NJ 07901. We are a winter youth swim team with year-round training opportunities. Daily training takes place in our 6-lane 25-yard pool, complete with state-of-the-art Colorado Timing System. We participate as a team in YMCA dual meets and YMCA championships. In addition to YMCA swimming, we are also a registered USA Swimming organization. USA Swimming membership fees are included in the team registration fee and are required for participation in USA Swimming sanctioned meets. These meets provide a variety of competitive events for our swimmers.
Our philosophy is a cooperative effort of swimmers, coaches, professional YMCA staff, and parents. Each play an important role in maintaining and improving our program, for the benefit of all involved.
We pride ourselves in helping our athletes develop their talents as well as growing in values that can be utilized in all aspects of their lives--not just in the pool. Our low Coach-to-Swimmer ratio allows coaches to individualize training techniques to best suit each swimmer.
We encourage all team parents to participate in the Summit Seals Parents Organization, known as SSPO. This group of dedicated and hardworking parents form the backbone of our organization. They are always there to assist the coaches, other parents, and--most importantly--the swimmers.
