Rich started his association with the Summit Y Swim Team in 1970 as a swimmer and has been a volunteer coach with the team for the last 8 years.

As a teenager, Rich placed at Y Nationals, captained the Bucknell swim team, and later held a Masters' national record and several national championships.  Rich started volunteering at the Y 13 years ago as swim instructor whose students ranged from infants to adults. 

Finally, Rich still competes in open water swims, having swum around Manhattan, Atlantic City, and across the Long Island Sound.
