Tim swam as an age-grouper through age 12 and then picked up swimming seriously again at age 19 in conjunction with competing in triathlons. He remained active in swim training and triathlon competition for over 25 years, including attaining several top-10 finishes in sprint- and middle-distance events and a top-20 finish in a Half-Ironman event. Having "retired" from triathlons, Tim remains active in New Jersey Master's Swimming. He has been coaching with Summit since 2005.
