Volunteer Positions

There are many positons and we can always use your help. Here is just a sampling of SSPO Board and Volunteer positions are as follows:
Team Managers
Responsible for one of our 5 Dual meet teams. Sends correspondence to the team. Takes emails from parents about absenteeism from meets. Communicates with the Dual Meet coach about swimmers. Sets up timers, officials, Colorado operators, Colorado hardware set up and break down, Meet Manager software operators, and food coordinators for each dual meet. Makes sure there are enough watches to give out to each parent to time. Collects results from Colorado operators after each dual meet. Makes sure food areas are cleaned up after each dual meet.
Charlotte/Nationals Sendoff Coordinator
Coordinates the send off party for our two Championship teams. Organizes time, place, food, beverages and communication for this event
Pasta Party Coordinator
Coordinates the Pasta Party for our athletes before their YMCA State meets. Organizes time, place, food, beverages and communication for this event
Hosted Meets Director
We sponsor three large meets during the year. A Meet Director sets up the entire meet in Meet Manager, writes the meet information document, gets the events out to the invited team and accepts entries. He/She also coordinates the timers/officials, deck marshals, refreshment people and gym monitors during the meet.
Timers Coordinator
For each invitational meet attended by the team. Contact the parent volunteer timers to arrange and assign timing shifts for the meet
Certified YMCA Swimming officials
After a four hour USA swimming Officials course an official will stand on the deck during swim meets to judge whether the swimmers are swimming the strokes properly.
Swimmers/Coaches Refreshments
For Y hosted meets. Purchase drinks and bagels or snacks, deliver them to the pool on the meet day and set them up on a table provided before the end of the meet.
Timers
Parents who stand behind the block during meets and time the athletes. At Dual Meets all parents are expected to be on hand to help time. At Invitational Meets, we are assigned a session and lane to time during the meet. The timing coordinator will assign parents to time based on whose kids are swimming in that session
Spiritwear/Swimwear Coordinator
Receive orders from California Beach Hut and Wolf Head Athletic, our apparel companies. Sort and distribute team orders.
